Session 2: Lori, the village, the hunt

They crawled out of the mine on fumes, dinged to level 2, and found Lori in the wreckage. A nearby village helped dig. Two temple clerics mean-girled Layrissa. Then they tracked goblins by thunder-stone resonance to a monument node, fought a small mining crew, then a much bigger goblin camp.

Date

Played: August 22, 2026.

In-game: still Day 2 when they crawl out and pick up Lori, then a long rest. Day 3: two fights (monument node, goblin-boss outpost) and a long rest at that outpost. Session 3 opens on Day 4.

Recap

The original four left the mine with almost no HP, relieved they had won (Day 2, same day they went in after the overnight rest underground). That spider fight is the closeness to recapture next time.

They found Lori digging her father out of a knocked-down wagon. She had seen goblins looting the wagon. He was defending their livelihood (gem craft) when the wagon finally turned over and crushed him. She is a blender in a dress: unarmored barbarian, impulsive, a foil for the rest of the party. Layrissa calls her "my child." Dino does it too, for fun.

A nearby village helped dig out the wreck. They brought two clerics: Life and Nature. For sport they mean-girled Layrissa, War/Love-and-War, as the wrong deity, not a real healer. The party shut them up hard. Jane wants the snipes more subtle next time, which needs actual theology.

They long-rested after picking up Lori (village help, clerics, wreck). Day 3 they started tracking the goblins. Thunder stones resonate with each other. Zink figured that out (sage beat). The trail led to a thunderstone monument node being mined by 2 goblins and 3 skeletons (undead dwarf diggers).

Loot: 25 gp mixed coin, 2 crude shortbows, stolen caravan goods (tools, rations, a silver holy symbol worth 15 gp), one small glowing thunderstone chip.

Next fight: the map made 5 goblins too easy, so a second crew piled in. Ended as 10 goblins + 1 goblin boss at a goblin outpost. They long-rested there. Morning after is Day 4 (Session 3).

Loot: 40 gp, 3 small enchanted gem shards (sell for 20 gp each, or keep for later), a crude +1 dagger prototype (flawed: +1 to hit, breaks on a natural 1).

Funny: two people rolled 1 on Perception and ran into a low limb. Zink, shorter, walked under it.

Loose threads

  • Village name. Cleric names. Their temples vs Love-and-War.
  • Subtle snipes need a pantheon sketch.
  • Who is animating dwarf miners.
  • Goblins still want thunderstone nodes.
  • Festival road vs hunting the rest of the crews.
  • Recapture spider-closeness in session 3. This goblin camp ran easy until you doubled it.
